Below are 20 scales and modes. Unfortunately however the names have become a bit mixed up and we need you to help us figure out which scale is which. All the names are written out long hand so for example G# will be G sharp and Ab will be A flat.

Simple Scales Crossword

We want to help you practice better. Click here to receive regular advice or here for help on your current problems.

Use the clues below to work out the note names for each scale in the crossword. Each scale has eight notes and begins and ends on the tonic. For example C Major would be C D E F G A B C. Any minor scales are natural so you should just follow the key signature.

If you have some free time between all those practice sessions ( Innocent ) then you might like to check out the music games at Agame.com. Most are in the Guitar Hero mould. Just a little fun to keep your brain ticking over whilst at the keyboard!

I've talked a number of times about the practice that needs to take place in your mind without the instrument. One area where this can be particularly useful is scales. If you can recall the notes quickly you are much more likely to be able to play the scale fluently. In order to complete the wordsearch below you will need to know the notes for each of the scales.
