John Riley is a renowned player, teach and author. He has performed with a virtual Who's Who's in the Jazz music field: Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Stan Getz, John Scofield, Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Joe Lovano, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and many others. A multiple GRAMMY winning recording artist, John has appeared on hundreds of record dates and on numerous Television and film productions. John has a BM from the University of North Texas and an MM from the Manhattan School of Music. He is on the faculty of Manhattan School of Music and SUNY-Purchase and has written three critically acclaimed books about jazz drumming - "The Art of Bop Drumming," "Beyond Bop Drumming" and "The Jazz Drummer's Workshop" and is a winner of the 2004 and 2005 Modern Drummer Magazine Reader's Poll.
