HTP Forum Rules

We want the How To Practice forums to be a place for free and open discussion about music practice. In order to make these forums a place that everyone can visit there are a few rules:

1. Content

Please do not post topics replies, comments or PM's containing:
a. Profanity - this forum is viewed by musicians of all ages, all posts must be suitable for viewing by minors. Use of creative lettering of partially masked profanity is not allowed. Obscence material or links to websites containing such material are also not permitted.
b. Discrimination - negative remarks based on race, ethnicity, disability, gender or religion will not be tolerated. Any derogitory related terminology will also be removed on sight.
c. Promotion - we will allow limited exposure of company products and services in our forums. Any service or products should be music or music practice related. Links are allowed in accordance with the signature policy. Promotional advertising should be confined to the 'Classifeds' forum. Mention of your products and service is allowed in the main forum providing it is in response to a question or topic raised by a forum member. Do not create new threads to promote your products other than in the 'Classifieds' section and refrain from bumping threads which feature your products. We reserve the right to remove posts which are deemed to be spamming, disrupting to the forum or excessive advertising.
d. File Sharing - Do not post links to illegal file sharing or P2P applications
e. On Topic - Please try to stay on topic. It makes the forum easier to read and follow. There will be a more relaxed approach to this in the 'Green Room' forums only.
f. Flaming - Flames directed towards other users will be locked on sight.
g. All gear 'for-sale' and 'wanted' items must be posted in the 'Classifieds' forum.
h. When posting in the 'Classifieds' forum there is a limit of 1 new thread per user per week. We will also use a common sense approach to bumping in this forum.
i. Thread titles should not be misleading and be relevant to the subject posted.
j. Only HTP smileys can be used. This is to prevent virus/spyware that some smileys can contain.
k. Make sure that new topics appear in the correct forum

2. Spam and Inappropriate Content

Do not post spam - simple as that.The posting of non-solicited advertisments in the forums will not be tolerated.

3. Bad Language

Please do not use bad language or make needless, incessant usage of:
a. Line breaks or ALL CAPS
b. Swearing of derogatory terms
c. 'txt' speak
d. Smileys
e. The 'quote' function

4. Moderation

The HTP moderators try to be fair and impartial. However:
a. If a moderator asks you to comply with one of these rules you must comply.
b. If you argue the rules with a moderator you will first be warned. If the argument persists you will receive a temporary ban.
c. If you disagree with the decision of a moderator contact them via PM. Airing grievances in public will result in a warning. If you are still not happy with the response you receive you should PM the site owners or get in touch via the contact page. We take our member satisfaction very seriously and want you to understand and be happy with all decisions made.

5. Bumping and Post Count

a. Please refrain from bumping topics
b. as per 1.c above do not bump posts in the classifieds section
c. Do not bump posts simply to increase you posts or points count. We reserve the right to reduce point and post counts if this is found to be the case.

All forum rules equally apply to comments, PMs, Blogs and any other content you post on HTP.

There are also rules for Signatures, Profiles, Private messages and Avatars that apply to these forums.
